Hello Fellow Travelers!
In May-June of 2017, my son and I had the opportunity to spend one night at the Club Med Sandpiper Bay. Right from the start, we felt welcomed and at home. The staff in the reception area (below), checked us in swiftly, and gave us a list of the planned acvities for the next few days. My son immediately spotted the soccer game, starting soon, so we got our bracelets (at right), dropped off our bags, and headed out to the soccer field. He enjoyed a great game and made some friends, while I toured the property.
The have a small soccer field, suitable for about 5-on-5. All activities are led by the staff, which makes it really easy to just jump in and enjoy.
The main pool.
Our room: it was huge! The thing I liked best was the closet--lots and lots of shelves for storage and hooks for hanging up wet clothes. Perfect for families! And a small fridge to keep drinks and snacks cold.
Mini golf! One of my son's favorite activities.
One of two specialty restaurants. Here you would need to make a reservation, and you could order off the menu.
The main bar/gathering room/dance venue. This place was hopping in the evening! The staff take part in the entertainment, and people of all ages get out on the dance floor.
RFID chip bracelets: this is your room key and pass while you are at the resort. Guest bracelets are pretty common at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, but I have to say, I loved that it was a ribbon (so much more comfortable!) and that it had my room key on it (no need for pockets, or a purse!)
The beach, with non-motorized watersports such as kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards for you to use. Staff will help you get started. No reservations needed, and yes, it is included!
The main buffet restaurant. Both my son and I were pleased by the selections at every meal, plenty of mainstream choices (he's kind of a picky eater) but also some gourmet choices as well. And a table with wine at dinner--help yourself!
Pickleboall courts. There were also tennis courts, and a golf course. Did I mention that all of the activities are included?!!?
The adults only pool, situated away from the busier central part of the resort, so quiet and peaceful. I enjoyed a yoga class in the morning on the pool deck.
YES, that is a trapeze! If we would have stayed more than just one night, I would have signed up to try. Space is limited, and it was a very popular activity. You work directly with an instructor.
The lap pool / children's pool. On the far side is the kids club, with all-day activities for the little ones. There is also a club for the teens, Latitude 45, where my son got to play card games and connect with others his age, and staff that took them out to the pool and lead group games.
Even though check out was at noon, we were able to stay at the resort until 5pm and enjoy more games and activities before we continued on our road trip. Suffice to say that after our one-night visit, we are hooked! We can't wait to take our whole family back to Sandpiper Bay. We also hope to visit other Club Med destinations, especially one of the ski resorts in Europe.
Please contact me if you have any questions about this property or other Club Med resorts! I'm happy to help. Regards -- Amy
